Parthenope University of Naples awarded for innovation
The Parthenope University of Naples has received a prestigious accolade for its commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship. The UNESCO Chair in Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystems in the Mediterranean and MENA Countries, led by Professor Marco Ferretti within the Department of Business Studies and Quantitative Methods, has been awarded the Seal of Merit by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR).
This award recognizes the chair’s excellence in research and education in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. Through innovative projects and international collaborations, the chair has made significant contributions to advancing scientific knowledge and promoting entrepreneurial ecosystems in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern-North African (MENA) regions.
The primary goal of the academic program is to foster entrepreneurship and stimulate the establishment and growth of innovative ecosystems in these areas. Aligned with UNESCO’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and national and regional development strategies, the chair emphasizes professional development and participation from students, professionals, and educational staff, with a particular focus on initiatives aimed at women. This focus aims to promote gender equality and cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The project, part of the Department of Excellence program, stems from a robust collaboration between DISAQ and institutions in Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria. Projects have been initiated to transfer entrepreneurial knowledge and enhance female employability. The long-term objective is to improve and develop the skills necessary for creating innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems in the targeted areas, adopting a multidisciplinary approach that engages universities, government entities, businesses, and financial institutions. The establishment of a dedicated network aims to develop innovative hubs that can stimulate economic growth and reduce development disparities within the involved regions.
Furthermore, the chair is dedicated to increasing awareness of the economic and commercial potential of Mediterranean and MENA countries. This is achieved through organizing seminars, events, and conferences focused on the economic scenarios of the regions and disseminating studies and research on the dynamics of innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems.
“This award reinforces our commitment to research and education oriented towards innovation and entrepreneurship. We will continue to work on developing innovative solutions and promoting a culture of economic responsibility and innovation“, stated Professor Marco Ferretti, expressing satisfaction with this achievement. The Seal of Merit serves as an additional incentive for the Parthenope University of Naples to strengthen its role as a center of excellence in scientific research and education in innovation and entrepreneurship.
