Cantina Il Poggio hosts japanese wine trade delegation

As part of an initiative aimed at selecting premium Italian wines for import and distribution across the Japanese restaurant sector, a delegation of Japanese entrepreneurs visited Cantina Il Poggio in Torrecuso. The meeting took place within the framework of a fact-finding tour designed to identify local producers with high value-addition potential for the Asian market.

The meeting provided an opportunity to consolidate established commercial relations between the foreign trade operators and the Sannio-based winery, which is currently successfully positioned in international markets. Owners Carmine and Marco Fusco, together with Export Manager Luca Savoia, guided the delegation through the company’s history, the pedoclimatic characteristics of the Sannio region, and the analytical and organoleptic profiles of their wines.

The tour unfolded along the winery’s production process, offering the delegation the opportunity to observe firsthand the various stages of grape processing and harvest operations. This immersive approach enabled the Japanese trade partners to fully evaluate the value and quality standards of the supply chain, gaining insight into the synergy between rigorous oenological techniques and the artisanal expertise that defines the winery’s production.

To round out the experience, the itinerary featured a hands-on session in the vineyard, where the delegates actively participated in harvesting operations, experiencing firsthand the traditional practices of the Sannio grape harvest. The visit concluded with an organoleptic evaluation of the fermenting Falanghina must, allowing the trade partners to assess the primary characteristics and aromatic profile of the raw material prior to the completion of the winemaking cycle.

The initiative integrated cultural insight, regional promotion, and the development of new B2B opportunities, further consolidating the winery’s international presence. Cantina Il Poggio’s footprint in foreign markets reinforces its role as a primary ambassador for the Sannio brand and the winemaking heritage of Torrecuso on a global scale. From this perspective, competitiveness in overseas markets relies not only on the organoleptic qualities of the product, but also on the ability to convey the origin’s pedoclimatic identity and production heritage. The strong interest shown by the Japanese trade partners underscores the strategic relevance of Sannio’s winemaking legacy within the international wine landscape.
