Apple rejects the proposal to abolish inclusion policies
Apple stands out from other major tech companies, such as Amazon and Meta, for its decision to maintain and protect its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. The board of directors in Cupertino, which includes Tim Cook, has advised shareholders to reject a proposal from the National Center for Public Policy Research, a conservative think tank, which suggested eliminating these programs.
With Donald Trump’s imminent inauguration at the White House, scheduled for January 20, major American tech companies are preparing to face a new chapter, also influenced by decisions regarding content moderation.
“The proposal seeks, inappropriately, to limit Apple’s ability to manage its regular business operations, people, teams, and strategies”, it is stated in a note from the Board of Directors, which emphasizes that the company “offers equal opportunities and does not discriminate in hiring, training, or promotion.”
Apple’s move is counter-trend, and during the company’s annual general meeting scheduled for February 25, it will be put to a vote by the shareholders.
