Attilio Mazzilli (Orrick) leading the team that provided assistance to Blacksheep Ventures
Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP has partnered with Blacksheep Ventures, a European venture capital fund with a strong entrepreneurial background managed by Eureka! Venture sgr. The renowned global law firm has provided support for two significant transactions. The first one involves Blacksheep Ventures’ investment in ID Ward, an English startup specializing in data privacy solutions within the digital advertising sector. The second transaction pertains to an investment made in Scibids Technology, a French startup operating in the digital marketing sector.
The coordination of the Orrick teams for these transactions was led by Corporate Partner Attilio Mazzilli, who heads the Italian Tech Group and is a member of the International Technology Companies Group. The teams consisted of Partners Shawn Atkinson from the London office and Benjamin Cichostepski from the Paris office. Assisting them were Associates Elena Cozzupoli, Emma Zarb (based in London), Manon Speich (based in Paris), and James Badge (based in London).
The strategic investment by the BlackSheep MadTech Fund, the first European mid-stage venture capital fund specializing in madtech, resulted in a capital increase of 1.1 million euros for ID Ward. This injection of funds aims to support the platform’s expansion on a European scale. In the case of Scibids Technology, the BlackSheep MadTech Fund invested 2 million euros to drive the international growth of the startup, which is already operating in Europe, the United States, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. As part of both transactions, Marco Caradonna joined the company’s board, representing the fund managed by Eureka! Venture sgr.
Having joined Orrick as a Partner in 2015, Attilio Mazzilli has established himself as a prominent figure in the Italian legal landscape, specializing in private equity and venture capital transactions. He is widely recognized for his extensive knowledge and experience in both domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. His expertise spans a range of areas, including financing transactions, corporate law, M&A, and listings.
